John Kester
Historian / Photographer
John is a retired electrical engineer with a lifelong passion for photography.
This journey motivated him to go places and see things he wouldn’t have otherwise seen, and in that process gain a greater love for the natural resources and abundant wildlife that surround us here in the South Carolina Lowcountry.
He started with cameras as a child spending time with his grandfather, an avid photographer who taught him all the basics at an early age. He learned to develop rolls of film and print pictures in his grandfather’s home dark room, and also learned how to adjust the camera settings using a light meter and manually focus the camera’s lens. For the past 20 years, he’s used the new tools of digital photography equipment and computers to create his own stunning images.
He and his wife, Alice, have called Georgetown home since 2004.
