When Georgetown’s world-famous Sunset Lodge brothel closed in 1969, The Georgetown Times handled the news with the philosophical musing (left), found on page 3A of the Dec. 18, 1969 edition.

The most complete, interesting and honest attempt at telling the history of the Sunset Lodge can be found in author and historian David Hodges’ book – Sunset Lodge in Georgetown: The Story of a Madam – published in 2019 by Arcadia Publishing.
